Gbolahan Odele Tennis: Ogunsakin Gets Revenge, Knocks Out Mohammed To Reach U-16 Semis
Seyi Ogunsakin has expressed satisfaction and relief after defeating resilient Amir Mohammed in their U-16 quarterfinal match at the ongoing Gbolahan Odele Junior Tennis Championship in Lagos.
Ogunsakin was made to swallow a bitter pill of defeat when the duo met for the first time in the Boys U-14 final at the Adewale Isa Foundation Junior Tennis Championship in Lagos.
Mohammed, relatively unknown to many tennis followers across the country, handed an infamous defeat inside the centre court of the tennis section at the national stadium in Surulere, Lagos, venue of the 5th edition of the annual championship.
The match ended 7-6, 6-0 in favour of the Abuja-based youngster and it left his Ekiti-born counterpart completely shattered.
However, less than a week after that incredible match, both players met in the U-16 event at the ongoing Gbolahan Odele Junior Tennis Championship inside the Adejumo Tennis Complex in Ejigbo to renew their rivalry and it was Ogunsakin who had the last laugh with a 7-5 win to take their head to head tie to 1-1.

David Edwards also reached the semifinals of the tournament after defeating Isah Yahaya 4-1, 4-0 and will take on Onyekachi Ogumjiofor who defeated Mohammed Abdullahi 6-1 in their quarterfinal match.
In other matches, emerging tennis youngster, Mabubak Rasaki has reached the semis of the Girls U-12 but will wait till Friday to know her opponent. The second semifinal will be between Oluwaseyi Oluwadabira and Omoyinka Ayinla.
Damilola Agunbiade from Cross River State will play against Lebi Eniola in the Boys U-14 quarterfinal just as Joseph Omoniyi and Adeiza Yakubu will trade serves in the second match.
In the other boys U-14 matches, Samuel Adegbite and Alex Clarkson will go head to head while Joseph Austin and Abdulbasit Salami will square up against each other on the final quarterfinal match.
Gloria Samuel, winner of the Girls U-14 final at the Adewale Isa Foundation Junior Tennis Tournament and Tiffany Osho are the two girls leading the charge for a final spot in the Girls U-14 category at the Gbolahan Odele Junior Tennis Championship.

Both players have been outstanding in their Round Robin matches and are well placed to advance to the next phase which will determine the winner of the U-14 category.
The Girls U-16 and Boys U-12 round robin matches are yet to be concluded, however, Nigeria Tennis Live can report that budding tennis sensation, Goodluck Tersoo from Benue State, is already in the quarterfinal of the Boys U-12 event.
