Enosoregbe Set To Avenge Nigeria’s Defeat In Hands Of Zimbabwean

Nigeria’s Clifford Enosoregbe has the opportunity to avenge the defeat of compatriot, Emmanuel Emeruwa, to Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Lock when the pair square up today in the first match of the second round at the ongoing Tombim Abuja Open.

Lock had beaten wild card entrant Emeruwa 6-1, 6-1 during their first round match at the tournament, and will now face a stronger opposition in Nigeria’s giant killer, Emosoregbe, if he must advance to the quarter final stage of the competition.

Can Enosoregbe avenge Nigeria’s defeat in the hands of the Zimbabwean?

The Edo-born Nigerian star will also partner Henry Atseye to tackle Brazilian pair of Fabiano De Paula and Fernando Romboli – the number one seeded pair in the doubles – in one of the other matches involving Nigerians.

Another quarter final fixture in the doubles will see Nigeria’s Sylvester Emmanuel partner Australia’s Mark Verryth to take on tournament’s number two pair of Pedro Bernard (Brazil) Christopher Diaz-Figueroa (Argentina).

Thomas Otu who defeated fellow Nigerian, Atseye to progress to the second round, already has his work cut out as he will be facing Zimbabwe’s number one player and number six seed, Takanyi Garanganga.

Hopefully, one of the Nigerians will advance to the next phase of the competition, especially as it reaches the money-spinning stages.
