    Nigeria’s Dubem Amasiani Wins Two African Championship Titles In Namibia

    Chukwudubem Amasiani, smarting from his first leg performance at the African Junior Tennis Championship, has won another set of trophies.

    The sole representative of Nigeria at the U-14 African Junior Tennis Championship in Windhoek, Namibia, was a finalist in the Singles and a Doubles winner in the first leg of the tournament.

    But the resilient youngster, who wanted to go one better than the first leg, did exactly that in the second leg and won gold in both Singles and Doubles events.

    Enroute to winning the gold medal, he defeated Ahmed Abid, his opponent in the final of the first leg, to reach the final where he saw off Muchengeti Manzungu 6-2, 6-2 to emerge winner.

    In the Doubles event, the pair of Amasiani and Abid, the number one Doubles seed, were clinical in the team event, defeating the duo of Manzungu and Tinashe Phatshwane in two straight sets of 6-4, 6-3.

    Thus, the Nigerian teenage tennis sensation will return to the country as the most decorated player from the two-week Championship in Namibia.

    The Abuja-based tennis youngster who is expected to take the Junior ITF Tennis Circuit by storm when he starts competing against his peers on tour.
