Spain-based Nigerian tennis prodigy, Sylvester Emmanuel, has become Nigeria’s number one male tennis player, Naija Tennis Special can authoritatively report.
Although he did not make it past the semis of the recently-concluded Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) senior tennis open, Sylvester braved the odds to come out tops in the regular ranking which was released by the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF).
Sylvester is on his way to becoming a Nigerian legend. |
With his new ranking, the doubles finalist at one of the recent ITF Futures in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital, followed in his brother, Sunday’s footsteps as Nigeria’s top ranked player in a tennis year.
In the female category, Christie Agugbom maintained her stronghold on the number one spot, and is closely followed by Sarah Adegoke, who emerged winner of the CBN Open at the expense of budding talent, Mary-Love Edwards.
