Toyin Asogba has reached the semis of the TC Fourques Open, her first tournament since she moved to France a few weeks ago.

The Nigerian tennis player, who left the country for France alongside her playing partner, Elisha, has started competing in the French country already.

And in her first ever tournament, the former Ikorodu-based tennis player has reached the semifinal, in what she described as a very tough competition.

“The girls here are ball machines, but I had to find a way to beat them. It’s a very tough tournament and I’m really excited to be playing these competitions.

“We started this tournament on Monday and it’s a week long competition. We play under the floodlights indoor and it’s totally different from what we experience in Nigeria.

“But I’ve had to adjust and I’m just happy to be able to play as many tournaments as possible,” an excited Asogba told Nigeria Tennis Live.

She further revealed that there are tournaments every week, and that after the one she’s currently competing in, another one starts next week Monday, 1 April, 2024.

“There are tournaments here every week, that’s one good thing about this place. After this tournament, we have another one next week.

“Here, they play tournaments every week and it’s really different from what we were used to in Nigeria before coming,” she added.

It won’t be too long before the Nigerian number eight player registers for WTA events and starts competing against the best players across the globe.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep tabs on the Nigerian duo in France, and report their progress to our teeming audience scattered across the globe.
