Ganiyu Adelekan, a former Davis Cup player, has splashed millions of naira on a junior tennis tournament in Lagos, Nigeria Tennis Live reports.
Adelekan, through his Ganiyu Adelekan Foundation, is hosting over 70 players from different parts of Nigeria inside the tennis section of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos in what is no different from a junior national event.

The players in attendance from Ogun, Oyo, Niger, Lagos, Osun, Kogi , Cross River and Benue States, are competing in the Boys and Girls’ 12, 14 & 16 categories.
The boys’ U-12 final showdown will be between Ogun State’s Ademola Adejumobi and Abraham Adeyemi while Barakat Ganiyu from Oyo State will take on Ameerah Adebayo in the girls’ U-12 finale.

Testimony Friday, another talented youngster from Ogun State, will trade serves with Benue State’s Goodluck Tersoo, one of Nigeria’s most talented tennis sensations for the boys’ U-14 title while Blessing Yusuf and Oyo State’s Akindele Kaosara will contest for the girls’ U-14 prize.

Sunkanmi Oduwaye, another Ogun State player, will have his hands full when he comes up against Lagos-based Yahaya Isa in the boys’ U-16 final while Omoyinka Ayinla, also of Ogun State, will slug it out with Lagos State’s Bisola Ogunkolade for the girls’ U-16 title.
The event which kicked off on Monday, 26 January, 2026, will end on Thursday, 29 January, 2026, with the players expected to receive a lot of gifts at the end of the competition.
The former Nigerian number player is expected to attend the finale of the event which is also a means of giving back to the tennis community where he started from.
