Nigeria’s youngster, Mofifunoluwa Atilola, is beginning the new year as Nigeria’s number one U-14 player in Africa, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.
Atilola, born in 2013, has been one of the shing starlets in Nigerian tennis, winning practically every tournament she played in the country, in the last one year.
The youngster has also moved beyond the shores of the country to start featuring in international tournaments, a development which has started yielding fruits as she is now recognized as one of the brightest prospects from Africa.

In the newly-released rankings by the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT), the Lagos-based tennis player is now ranked 15th in Africa, the number two in West Africa and the number one U-14 female tennis player in Nigeria.

The closest to Atilola on the African rankings is 13-year-old Rorisa Jatto who is ranked 39th in Africa, while Emmanuella Kwange and Dabira Oluwaseyi as the only Nigerian players on the rankings.
Kwange is ranked 44th in Africa while Oluwaseyi is the 134th player on the African female U-14 rankings.
The boys suffered a contrasting fate as no Nigerian male player was listed on the African U-14 rankings.

Chukwudubem Amasiani, the erstwhile number one U-14 player in West Africa, already exceeded the age for the U-14 rankings and was, therefore, no longer listed on the rankings.
Nigerians will be looking forward to the next generation of players who will take over and dominate in the U-14 category, both in Africa and globally.
