Nigeria’s U-12 girls at the ITF/CAT U-12 Western African Teams’ Championship in Ghana have qualified for the main AJC event after beating Benin Republic.
The girls are the only unbeaten team at the ongoing tournament in Accra, Ghana, having secured impressive wins against their opponents at the competition.
The trio of Mofifunoluwa Atilola, Mabubat Rasaki and Karina Opuene have been outstanding all week, recording some unbelievable results.

The Nigerian female team has won all matches 3-0 since the commencement of the competition, defeating Togo and Liberia in the process, with Benin Republic as the latest casualty as they also fell 0-3 to the unyielding Nigerian girls.

Atilola, who has been arguably Nigeria’s best performer, recorded back-to-back bagels against her opponents from Togo and Benin Republic en route to the final round of matches at the tournament. She has only dropped two games all week.

Unlike the girls, the boys have not been able to find their form at the tournament, losing their matches, making it unlikely that they will qualify for the main event which will hold at a later date.
All attention will now be on the Nigeria versus Ghana match scheduled to hold on Friday, 19 September, 2025, as the Nigerian girls seek to cement their status as the impeccable champions from West Africa and confirm their qualification for the main AJC.
