Ohunene Yakubu has been rewarded for her impressive outing at the two legs of the ongoing Junior ITF tournaments in Accra, Ghana.
The youngster won the first two legs of the J30 Accra in the neighbouring West African country as she bounces back from injury setbacks she had earlier.
And after her impeccable run to the title across both legs, where she won the Singles and Doubles, Yakubu is now closing up among the top 700 world junior tennis players.

The 17-year-old Tunisia-based tennis sensation started the year as the world’s 394 ranked player, her highest ever ranking spot till date. However, inactivity on the junior tennis circuit ensured that she went down on the rankings.

But since her return to full fitness and competitive tennis, the youngster has proven to be very lethal on the court and showed that with her J30 Accra wins.

She is now ranked 715 in the latest Junior ITF after moving 138 spots on the newly released update by the international tennis federation, an indication of the player’s rise in the past few weeks.
Yakubu is in contention for the ongoing J60 Accra title where she is currently seeded four at the competition.
Success Ogunjobi, Khadijat Mohammed and Suwa Nenrot are among the other Nigerians who are participating in the J60 competition in Ghana.
