Mofifunoluwa Atilola has returned to Nigeria after a training tour of South Africa and participation at two legs of CAT/ITF U-14 African Junior Tennis Championship in Zimbabwe.
Atilola who does not turn 12 until October, 2025, is aiming to win the Girls’ U-16 title at the ongoing Adewale Isa Foundation National Junior Tennis Championship, and cement her status among Nigeria’s elite junior tennis players.
The youngster who is currently the No. 2 U-14 player in the whole of West and Central Africa, defeated another budding tennis sensation, Omoyinka Ayinla, 4-0, 4-0 to reach the semifinal of the competition.

The U-14 finalist at the 2024 edition of the competition will face off against Destiny Tomizayi, who got the better of Adesewa Olaniyan 4-2, 4-2, in the semifinal match on Thursday, 27 August as she pushes for a spot in the final.

Also, Bisola Ogunkolade will come up against Precious Ohimai in the other semifinal match after they both won their quarterfinal matches on Tuesday, 26 Auugust, 2025.
While Ogunkolade defeated Miriam Ogunbamwo 4-0, 4-0, Ohimai handed Destiny Dahsozou an emphatic 4-1, 4-0 defeat to reach the semis.

Abuja-based Oluwadabira Oluwaseyi was a 4-0, 4-0 winner against Miriam Bello to reach the Girls’ U-12 quarterfinal just as Zara Adegoke won 5-3, 4-0 against Wealth Ekhator. Adegoke will take on Kimberly Ogundeyi who grinded out a 3-5, 4-0, 10-4 win against Pinky Onyemenam.
In the Boys’ U-16 event, Gbolahan Olawale will be up against tough-playing Waliu Hamzat in what promises to be a cracker. While Olawale, the number one seed, beat Sodiq Suleiman 4-1, 4-1, Hamzat had to fight for his points.

The Ogun State player came from behind to defeat top seed Testimony Godwin 4-5(6), 4-0, 10-6 to secure a berth in the quarterfinal of the Adewale Isa Foundation Junior Tennis event.
The number two seed, David Edwards, also defeated Oyo State-based Joseph Austin 4-2, 4-0 to advance to the quarterfinal and boost his chances of reaching the finals of the event.
