The Nigerian Billie Jean King Cup team defeated Uganda in their opening round of matches at the Africa Group III qualifier in Namibia without touching the racquet.
Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the Ugandans were reportedly stuck somewhere and could not make it to the venue of the competition which made them forfeit their match against the Nigerian side.

Thus, the duo of Adesuwa Osabuohien and Oyinlomo Quadre listed to play the match did not as much as hit any forehand against their opponents to win the game.

For a chance to advance in Group B of the Africa Group III Qualifying rounds, Nigeria will have to defeat Ghana who lost all three rubbers in the opening game against Botswana on Monday, 4 August, 2025.

Meanwhile, reports from Namibia have it that Success Ogunjobi, initially ruled out from joining the team, will be teaming up with the players already at the event.

Nigeria Tennis Live was informed that the player who had been rescheduled to join her colleagues on Monday could not travel from Zimbabwe, where she was billed to play a J100 Harare event and had to return to her hotel for the second time.
Our correspondent later gathered, however, that the player may be traveling on Tuesday (today) to join the trio of Osabuohien, Quadre and Khadijat Mohammed who are already in Namibia for the Billie Jean King Cup event.
