Nigeria’s number one female tennis player, Khadijat Mohammed, was at her impeccable best during her quarterfinal match against Habiba Habib from Egypt.
Mohammed, obviously disappointed after her loss in the first leg, atoned for the miss and went all ballistic against the J30 Abuja first leg finalist.
The 2025 Rainoil National Tennis Championship Women’s Singles Winner started with a perfect 6-2 win in the first set before being pegged back with a 3-6 win by her opponent, setting the match for an interesting final set finale.

In the ensuing set, the talented Nigerian teenager dug deep, and buoyed by the home support, won 6-3, to set up a mouthwatering, top-of-the-table clash against Success Ogunjobi in the semifinal.

The number one seed for the competition, Ohunene Yakubu, will take on Luise Luczak in the semis after the German came back from a 4-6 loss in the first set to bagel number three seed, Etoro Bassey, in the final two sets.

Yakubu, a semifinalist in the first leg, will be hoping to avoid a defeat to reach another Junior ITF final in Abuja, and possibly win another championship.
The Boys’ and Girls’ semifinal matches start by 10am on Friday, as the competition for ITF points gets stiffer in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital.
