Success Ogunjobi and Lucky Danjuma continue their upward surge after outstanding performances at the J30 Abuja event last weekend.
Both players won the Girl’s and Boy’s titles respectively to further push themselves forward as two of the best talents to come out of Nigeria in recent years.
Danjuma reached the top 500 in the world after his back-to-back J30 Accra wins a few weeks ago, and he has backed that up with a spectacular display of tennis mastery at the first leg of the J30 Abuja tournament.
And as a reward for winning the competition, he is now edging closer to reaching the top 400 in world junior tennis rankings.

Nigeria Tennis Live checks on the ITF website revealed that the Abuja-based teenager is now rated 423 in the world, after moving 48 spots on the log following his recent exploits.
Ogunjobi, on the other hand, added the J30 Abuja to the title she won at the same venue a few months ago, to keep the pace with Ohunene Yakubu, the highest-ranked Nigerian junior tennis player on the ITF rankings.

The Ekiti-born tennis sensation who idolizes Aryna Sabalenka, is now the second highest ranked female junior tennis player from Nigeria on the ITF rankings.
Reports show that she moved up a whopping 117 places and now ranks 675 in world junior tennis, moving closer to Yakubu (who dropped 68 places and now ranks 631) at the summit of the rankings for Nigerian players.
And despite losing in the semifinals to Ogunjobi, another youngster from Ekiti State, Goodnews Aina, is now in the top five of the Nigerian female players on junior ITF rankings, a situation which can get even better with the second week of the J30 Abuja starting on Monday, 9 June, 2025.

Aina moved 266 spots on the rankings and is now ranked 1493 in the world, as she edges closer to breaking into the top 1000 in the world junior rankings.
The biggest surprise of the wee would be the downward slope of Nigerian number one female player, Khadijat Mohammed, who dropped over 200 spots and is now ranked 1572, and the sixth highest-ranked Nigerian female junior on the ITF.
She lost to Aina in the quarterfinal in what was one of the biggest upsets at the first leg of the J30 Abuja event. Mohammed will need to reach the final of the second week to salvage her points and return to the top of the ladder.

For the boys, Ezekiel Azi kept the pressure on his counterparts as he made a solid 157 spots jump to rise up to 1224 on the rankings. James Benjamin and David Edwards also made giant strides on the newly-released rankings.
Banjamin, now ranked 1708 after moving 226 spots is closely followed by Edwards, ranked 2083 after ending last week as the biggest mover among the boys with 289 steps upwards.
The second leg of the highly-competitive J30 Abuja tournament is currently taking place inside the Package B of the National Stadium in Abuja, with players from every part of the world in attendance.
