Following in the footsteps of Coco Gauff, Nigeria’s Success Ogunjobi has won her second major title as a tennis player.
Gauff defeated Aryna Sabalenka to win the Women’s Singles at the French Open and clinch her second Grand Slam title on Saturday, 7 June, 2025, a feat which has not gone unnoticed by the tennis world.
And while the celebrations were going on in France, venue of the event, Nigeria’s Ogunjobi was making history in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital.

The Abuja-based teenager defeated Egypt’s Habiba Habib in the Girls’ Singles final at the J30 Abuja event in two straight sets of 7-6(6), 6-3 to take home her second ITF title of year 2025.
Her male counterpart, Lucky Danjuma, defeated Ezekiel Azi 6-1, 6-3 in the Boys’ Singles final at the J30 Abuja event to also cart home his third title of the tennis season.

Danjuma is fast becoming one of the players to watch out for on the Nigerian tennis circuit as he keeps moving up on the ladder.

He is currently top 500 in the world and will look to move even higher on Monday, 9 June when the new rankings are released by the ITF, as well as in the week 2 of the ITF event in Abuja.
