The Adewale Isa Foundation (AIF) has announced a suspension of the US training tour for winners of their flagship tournament, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.
The Foundation has, through its flagship competition, the Adewale Isa Foundation Junior Tennis Championship, reached out to many youngsters across the country, helping with grassroots tennis development.
And as part of the benefits of winning the tournament, the boys and girls U-12 winners are offered a complimentary training tour of the United States.

However, the Foundation is now suspending this training until further notice, according to a statement issued by the Foundation through its Chairperson, Mrs. Sikirat Olayinka Adigun.
“As part of the benefits of winning the AIF Junior Tennis Tournament, we decided to give more exposure to Nigerian players who win our tournament by offering a free training tour of the United States to our male and female U-12 winners.

“We were able to secure this training for two of the winners since we initiated this opportunity. While one of the athletes has already completed their training tour and returned back to Nigeria, we await the second player to enjoy the benefits of our benevolence.
“However, we are sadly unable to continue with this program for the tournament winners following the last trip that we facilitated. Circumstances beyond our control have necessitated a suspension of this training tour of the US as part of our gifts to the winners of our tournament,” the statement obtained by Nigeria Tennis Live read in part.

While reiterating its desire to continue promoting grassroots tennis in the country, the AIF noted that it will also continue “offering opportunities to kids in the country, therefore, we shall communicate to the general public when new opportunities arise”.
Attention has now been shifted to the 2025 edition of the tournament which has been scheduled to take place from 23-30 August, 2025.
“We are looking forward to seeing the bright and enthusiastic faces of young tennis athletes yet again, as we continue the legacy of our father, Coach Adewale Isa,” Mrs. Adigun added in the statement.
