Seun Ogunsakin, Nigeria’s sole representative at the ongoing African Junior Championship in Egypt, has reached the final of the event.
The Nigerian teenage sensation has been outstanding all week, defeating his opponent in two straight sets, en route to reaching the final.
Ogunsakin, former African U-14 number one player, defeated Tunisia’s Darmoul Ahmed, the tournament’s number four seed, 6-2, 6-3 to set up a final match up against Raguin Ntungamili from Botswana.

The Motswana has also been outstanding all week, winning all his matches without dropping a set, and reached the final after seeing off impressive El Aouni Reda, in two well-fought sets of 7-6 (5), 6-1.

The African Junior Championship is a tournament for the best U-16 players on the continent, selected according to the Junior ITF Rankings.
Nigeria’s Ogunsakin, who is the highest ranked player in the competition, and the number one seed, is the odds-on favourite to win the championship when the final takes place on Saturday, 19 April, 2025.
