Seun Ogunsakin is the number one seed at the U-16 African Junior Championship which serves off in Cairo, Egypt on 15 April, 2025, Nigeria Tennis Live has gathered.

The former African U-14 number one youngster is the highest ranked junior ITF player (212) on the list of players participating in the tournament, hence his spot at the peak of the draw.

According to the list released by the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT), Ogunsakin is the only Nigerian player who will be participating in the five-day competition.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that about six other Nigerians, earlier registered for the championship, have withdrawn from participating in the event.

Prosperity Okonkwo, Chukwudubem Amasiani, David Edwards, Khadijat Mohammed, Goodnews Aina and Gloria Samuel were all on the initial list released by CAT ahead of the tournament.

Recall that in 2024, Ogunsakin joined seven other players to participate in three top grade Junior ITF tournaments in South Africa.

The Tunisia-based player was listed among emerging talents supported by the Grand Slam Player Development Program (GSPDP), CAT and the International Tennis Federation to go on the tour.
