Christopher Bulus has returned to the national rankings after winning the Rainoil Senior National Tennis Championship in Lagos.

The US-based player is Nigeria’s only ATP player, and was the overwhelming favourite to win the competition and he did not disappoint, winning all his matches in two straight set.

And according to the newly-released national rankings, the Nigerian Davis Cup star man is now ranked in the country, a situation which had changed since he stopped playing national tournaments.

David Ekpenyong, the number one player at the NAIA rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), remains Nigeria’s number one player despite not playing the last two national tournaments.

He is closely followed in number two by Canice Abua, winner of the Dala Championship in Kano and a semifinalist at the recently-held Rainoil championship. He pushes Uche Oparaoji, finalist at the 2024 Dala Championship, to third place.

In the Women’s Singles, Khadijat Mohammed extended her lead at the top of the rankings, leading her closest rival by more than 300 points.
