    ITF/CAT West & Central Africa AJC: Unplayable Nigeria Dominate Team Event In Togo

    Nigerian youngsters to Lome, Togo, are currently dominating the team events at the ITF/CAT West & Central Africa Junior Championships.

    The youngsters won three titles at the individual event which ended on Tuesday, 14 January, 2025, and have taken that form into the team event which served off the following day.

    Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the boys’ U-14, 16 & girls 14 players have been emphatic with their victories at the competition while the girls’ U-16 have not been overly impressive, although they are still in contention for a major win.

    The U-14 boys comprising African number three player, Chukwudubem Amasiani, Seyi Ogunsakin and Abdulbasit Salami, are yet to lose a match at the team event and will be playing for the first and second positions on Sunday, 19 January, 2025.

    They are grouped with Ghana and Benin Republic, both of whom they easily defeated to reach the final round of matches.

    Also, the girls’ U-14 team led by Goodnews Aina and joined by Emmanuella Kwange and South-Africa based Rorisa Axe Jatto, are topping the group in the round robin stage.

    After playing three matches, the girls are yet to lose a match, neither have they lost a set and will now play for who comes out top in a top of the table clash against Benin Republic who are also yet to lose a game.

    Nigeria’s U-16 boys are also on course to finish the competition as the top team in the team event after going through the round robin matches without losing a match.

    The remaining fixture to confirm the winner of the team event will be played today as the team event wraps up in Lome.
