Nigeria’s Mubarak Ganiyu and Lucky Danjuma are in serious contention for semifinal spots at the ongoing junior ITF tournament in Lome, Togo.

The Nigerian pair have been in good form all week and are seeking to crown their efforts by reaching the final of the event but not before seeking semifinals berths.

Ganiyu who reached the final of the J30 Lome event last week, will hope for a repeat of his exploits from the first week and even go one better by winning the event.

His quarterfinal match is against home player, Mawuko Francois-Xavier Gakpo while his Nigerian counterpart, Danjuma, will have his hands full when he comes up against Tunisia’s Ahmed Darmoul, the tournament’s number four seed.

Both players will also pair to fight for a place in the finals of the Doubles event when they star against Jaylon Gabet from France and Botswana’s Ntungamili Raguin in the semis of the team event.

None of the Nigerian girls could make it past the quarterfinal rounds in the girls’ Singles event, however, Etoro Bassey will team up with Serene Orphelia Nguimbis Ntove from Togo to go head-to-head against Tunisia’s Iris Herglia and Nigeria’s Ohunene Comfort Yakubu for a place in the Doubles’ final.

Whichever way the result goes, Nigeria is guaranteed a player in the finals of the Doubles event at the J60 Lome event in Togo.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep all our readers and followers updated on all the developments from Togo as the players progress.
