Nigeria’s duo of Daniel Adeleye and Prosperity Ikenna Okonkwo have reached the final of the J60 Accra junior ITF event for the second consecutive week.

Both players were at the centre stage of tennis activities in Ghana last week, as they went head-to-head in the final of the J60 event which Okonkwo won.

Adeleye had won two consecutive J60 titles before last week’s match against Okonkwo, where he could not manage a win for the first time in three weeks.

Presently, Okonkwo has two titles (J30, J60) from four weeks of competition, same number as Adeleye who took back-to-back J60 titles in Ghana.

And in their final week of competition in Accra, the crowd will be waiting to see who emerges as the overall Prince of Accra during its six weeks of non-stop junior ITF competition.

To reach the final, Adeleye defeated Belgian sensation, Louis Mouffe, in two hard fought sets while Okonkwo got the better of Francky Hoimian for the second time.

The match between the Nigerian youngster and the Ivorian Davis Cup player lasted three sets as the number two seed tried to salvage the match after going down in the first set.

The Abuja-based Okonkwo would, however, gave it his all in a frantic final set encounter which was decided by a tie break. At the end, it was the Nigerian who won the match 7-6(7) to set up another encounter with a familiar foe in Adeleye.

All eyes will be on the match which takes place later today inside the tennis section of the Accra Sports Stadium to wrap up the six weeks of junior ITF competition in Ghana.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep tabs with the match and report all the updates to our teeming audience scattered across the globe.
