Anu Ayegbusi has emerged as Nigeria’s new number one female tennis player in the newly-released national rankings obtained by Nigeria Tennis Live.

Ayegbusi has been one of the most consistent players on the Nigerian tennis circuit, reaching the finals of two national tournaments in 2024, winning one of them.

Over the past few years, she has played second fiddle to the tireless and relentless Marylove Edwards, but her efforts seem to be eventually yielding fruits with the recent ranking.

The UNIPORT Graduate is also Nigeria’s most dreaded female player at the moment as she is one of the most consistent players on the court.

She is closely followed by Khadijat Mohammed, the defending champion of the Dala Hard Court tennis competition, and one of Nigeria’s top players on the junior ITF rankings.
