Nigeria’s youngster, Joel Michael, has received massive reviews following a successful training tour of the United States of America.

The Lagos-based tennis youngster who has been quite a hit in the Nigerian junior tennis circuit was a beneficiary of a US-training tour after winning the U-12 boys category at the Adewale Isa Foundation tennis championship in Lagos.

And after spending about two months at the Impact Activities Training Centre in McKinney, Texas, the coaches who worked with the youngster had nothing but glowing reviews about him.

Nurudeen Isa, one of the facilitators of the trip and a Director at the facility, informed Nigeria Tennis Live that the coaches were highly impressed with Joel, despite spending a few months with him.

He revealed that the youngster is believed to be ahead of his peers who had visited the facility for training prior to his visit and hopes that he realizes his dreams.

“The coaches were highly impressed with Joel. They thought he had a better technique than the two boys that had visited earlier in the year.

“Also considering he is younger than them they think he has a lot of potential. He was very hardworking and all the coaches I spoke to loved his attitude towards the sport,” Mr. Isa said.

When asked if Joel, who has represented Nigeria at several international tournaments, has the potentials to become pro, the coach did not mince words at all.

He said: “There are a lot of factors that will definitely come into play for an individual to turn pro (the right environment, coaching, tournaments, sponsorship etc).

“Right now he is on course to becoming one barring any injuries”.
