Nigeria’s team to the ongoing Billie Jean King Cup Africa Group III Qualifier in Kenya are in pole position to emerge winners of their Group C at the event.

The Nigerian trio of Oyinlomo Quadre, Adesuwa Osabuohien and Divine Nweke saw off Ghana on Tuesday, 11 June, 2024, to continue their impressive start to the event.

Quadre started the rout with the 6-4, 6-3 victory over Elizabeth Bagerbaseh before team captain Osabuohien defeated Tracy Ampah in a swift 6-3, 6-0 game.

The third rubber was a pairing of Quadre and Nweke and it ended with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Ampah and Annette Cruickshank to confirm Nigeria’s 3-0 rout of Ghana.

To cement their status as the top team from Group C, Nigeria will now have to face Botswana who have also been impressive all week as well.

Botswana defeated Ghana 2-1 before downing Uganda 3-0 on Tuesday to put their record at this year’s event at 5-1, a result only bettered by Nigeria’s 6-0 record.
