Seun Ogunsakin has defeated Edilson Jose De Arauje Rosa from Mozambique to win his first ever Junior ITF title in Tunisia, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.

The Nigerian teenage tennis sensation who is currently based in Tunisia was the tournament’s number three seed and showed no mercy in his match against his opponent in the final, winning 6-3, 6-2.

This feat means the former African no. 1 U-14 player has now won three Junior ITF titles already in 2024, adding his recent feat to his success early in the year where he won back-to-back J30 titles in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital.

The 15-year-old Ekiti-born player also won the Doubles event at the J30 Kairouan event where he partnered with his opponent in the final of the Singles.

Together, they defeated the pair of Anas Ben Chiekh from Tunisia and Ghana’s Raphael Nii Nortei Dowuona 7-6(3), 6-2.

In the girls’ category, Nigeria’s Ohunene Yakubu, playing as the only non-Tunisian player in the competition, lost out in the semis of the event.

She had defeated all her opponents until she came up against the competition’s no.3 seed, Chahd Tourkhani, to whom she lost in three sets.

The Tunisian would later go ahead to win the J30 event by defeating fellow Tunisian, Nour Sahnoun in a final set encounter.
