Roseline Nana has hit the ground running at her first-ever tournament in Canada, barely six months after leaving Nigeria.

The nine-year-old Nigerian youngster left Nigeria for the Aliassime Academy in Canada after being snapped up by the Academy who had been monitoring her exceptional performances in Lagos.

And in her first ever tournament after six months of consistent training, the youngster has shown Canadians what she carries and what stuff she’s made of.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that young Rose recently won the Montreal Provincial Tournament by dropping only a game throughout the event.

Not only was she superb at the event, she defeated the tournament’s number three seed Clara Fanoos 6-0, 6-0 in the final of the competition to take the winner’s trophy.

Her dad, Lucky Nana, told Nigeria Tennis Live that Rose was exceptional in the competition because she kept hitting aces during her matches.

According to him, the results were not a reflection of the level of opposition the young girl met during the tournament, but she was just a class ahead of them, resulting in the final outcome.

“She kept hitting aces during the matches and that was why she was able to record those scorelines against her opponents.

“Most of the players there are actually really good, but the scoreline didn’t make it obvious how good they were because of how Rose was defeating them,” the father said.

He also spoke about her tennis progress since she left Nigeria. He noted that “She’s in a good place as far as her tennis is concerned. She’s training at the national centre. Under the Tennis Montreal programme called the Tennis Montreal Excellence.

“We’ve entered her for three more tournaments, one of which is a point-awarding U-12 tournament. She will also be playing an U-10 tournament, which can qualify her for a national the national championship here”.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep tabs on the youngster and her tennis progress as she continues her development in Canada.
