    VEMP Wheelchair Tennis ITF Open: Nigeria’s Omisore, Adewale Set For Final Showdown

    The duo of Alex Adewale and Kafayat Omisore are the only Nigerians in final events at the ongoing VEMP Wheelchair Tennis ITF Open tournament.

    The three-day event holding inside the tennis section of the National Stadium, Abuja, is featuring players from five different countries, Nigeria inclusive.

    Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that Tanzania, Morocco, South Africa and Kenya are the other players participating in the competition which served off on Sunday, 4 February and will climax on 6 February, 2024.

    Kafayat Omisore is the only Nigerian left in the Singles event after defeating Morocco’s Samira Benichi in a three-set thriller which ended 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 in favour of the top Nigerian female star.

    She will now face another formidable opposition in South Africa’s Mariska Venter in the final event which starts by 9:00am on Tuesday.

    Another South African player, Eliphas Evans Maripa, will be playing the Men’s Singles final against Morocco’s Fouad Boughnim.

    Adewale, the other Nigerian playing in the finals, will partner Morocco’s Said Himam to square up against the Moroccan pair of Lhaj Boukartacha and Boughnim.

    In the Women’s Doubles final, Najwa Ahwane and Samira Benichi from Morocco will face Kenya’s Asya Mohamed Sururu and South Africa’s Venter.

    Nigeria’s William Ukari and Wasiu Yusuf will play the Men’s Singles Consolation final, just for points, while Rehema Selemani from Tanzania will trade serves with Phoebe Masika from Kenya in the Women’s Singles Consolation final.

    Matches will serve off at the Wheelchair Tennis ITF event by 9am on Tuesday, 6 February, inside the tennis section of the National Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital.
