Omotayo Blessing and her female team members came out tops at the just concluded Topshot UTR Tennis Invitational event in Lagos.
Alongside her female Team B members – Mary Udoffa, Faith Ameh and Osaherun Osayinweh, she won 24 points.
Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that while Omotayo and her friends were fondling with their winners’ medals, Omolayo Bamidele steered her Team C to a second spot finish.
Their 20 points ensured they knocked Toyin Asogba-led Team A to a third place finish. Team A amassed 16 points for their efforts.
In the male category, Captain fantastic Michael Osewa led his Team C to a podium place finish with an amazing 24-point haul. Joseph Jimoh, Fortune Emmanuel and Mueez Owolabi completed the team.
Abayomi Philip who captained Team B, led them to a second spot finish with 20 points while recent Abuja ITF Futures winner, Daniel Adeleye, and his Team A, came third.
The Topshot UTR Tennis Invitational is an opportunity for local Nigerian players to play tournaments in the country and earn global points.
It also gives the players the opportunity access college scholarships through the UTR ratings.
The main sponsor of the competition, Mr. Lanre Ola, advised the players to work harder to have access to more opportunities.
Mr. Tokunbo Agoro, the Lagos State Tennis Association chairman; Mr. Niyi Oloko of the Lagos State Public Service Club and Mr. Biodun Oladipupo, the Managing Director of pennywise were all in attendance.
