Former Nigerian number one female tennis player, Sarah Adegoke representing Oyo State, will be playing against Anu Aiyegbusi of Edo State, at the final match of the Women’s Singles at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Edo State.

Nigeria Tennis Live reports that the former National Champion defeated Omolade Aderemi of Ondo state, in two straight sets of 6-0, 6-2, to qualify for her second consecutive finals at the Festival.

Adegoke, who recently made a return to tennis action after years of absence, lost the 2018 final to youngster, Oyinlomo Quadre, in two straight sets, but will want to avoid a repeat of same when she takes on Ayegbusi.

The Ibadan, Oyo State based superstar will also be hoping to boost her match fitness, as the players have been without national competitions for more than one year.

On the other hand, Ayegbusi, a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt defeated Blessing Anuna of Abuja in two clear sets of 6-1, 6-1.

With this result, the Edo player will seek to down her opponent from Oyo state, and clinch a gold medal at the Festival, and get a massive boost ahead of the fast approaching national tournament in Abuja.

Nigeria Tennis Live correspondent inside the tennis section of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State, will bring our followers up to speed with the latest updates from the tennis competition.
