Without having to hit a ball yet in 2021, Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadre has eased into the top 100 junior tennis players of the world.

Nigeria Tennis Live checks on the ITF website revealed that this new ranking released on Monday, 4 January, shows that the incredibly talented Nigerian youngster is now ranked 92 in the world juniors.

This new development will come as a great news to the youngster, her coach and her family who have been looking forward to the player’s improvement on the ranking for the past two years.

In 2020, she had already started moving up the ladder with the tournaments she started playing, but the pandemic cut that and left her short of other ways to continue her progress.

But with the new year barely one week old, Quadre has been presented with the good news of being ranked among the top 100 in the world.

Our correspondent gathered that she, like some of her other colleagues, stepped up in the rankings because the players who are 18years often leave the junior circuit and their spots are filled.

Therefore, Quadre, one of the top ranked players on the African continent, was presented the golden opportunity to ease into the top 100 in the world.

With this development, the Nigerian number one has become the first ever Nigerian player to be among the top 100 in the world, a record which will see her play in top grade championships when the courts open for tournaments.

Other Nigerian tennis players under the age of 18 also made significant leaps in the newly released rankings, but Quadre’s quantum leap into the top 100 is being talked about the most, by tennis followers and enthusiasts across the country.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep monitoring her activities and progress, and report to our teeming followers.
