Nigerian youngster, Oyinlomo Quadre, has revealed that winning the Nigerian Slam does not amount to achieving her goals for year 2019.

The Nigerian number one female tennis player won all the national tournaments for the year 2019 without dropping a set, a feat which had not been achieved in the history of tennis in Nigeria.

But she believes that the win doesn’t represent her goals for the year even though the wins were unprecedented for her.

In an exclusive chat with Nigeria Tennis Live, the numero uno tennis website in Nigeria, she explained that her goal was to end the year among the top 100 players of the world in the junior cadre, but she ended up as a top 190 player.

She said: “Well, this year I didn’t achieve my goal, which was to end the year top 100.

“I am currently 190, so next year I will like to put in the work and end the year top 50 and top 500 WTA.”

The African junior number four player also basked in the euphoria of the amazing year she’s had so far.

“This year has been a roller coaster for me filled with so many emotions, at the start of the year I struggled with my mental stability on court and confidence but I was able to work through that and so many other problems I have faced along the way.

“This year taught me patience and that my mindset will determine how I live my life and what I achieve with it,” the 16-year-old Quadre said.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep monitoring the player’s progress in the new year as she continues her tennis development.
