Sylvester Emmanuel has become the undisputed national champion after overpowering Joseph Imeh to win his third title of year 2019.

Major, as the dark-skinned player is fondly called, had to battle his friend for the men’s singles title at the Vemp Senior Open as he lost the first set 2-6, but bounced back in the second set to boss a 6-4 win.

Imeh, who’s won only one title this year, would later retire in the final set, as he could no longer continue with the match, thereby handing the second consecutive title to his friend and colleague on a platter of gold.

Both players will end as Nigeria’s number one and two, the positions which they’ve shared between each other in the past few years, with Abdulmumin Babalola and Thomas Otu being the only players coming between them.

The players who were deprived of the NCC Tennis League in 2019 will seek other means of constant tennis competition in 2020 in the event that it repeats itself.

Nigeria Tennis Live will monitor proceedings don’t report updates to our followers from all over the world.
