Alex Adewale, in spite of his recent loss at the PUMA Engineering Wheelchair Tennis tournament in Lagos, is still the number five best player on the African continent.

According to information obtained by Nigeria Tennis Live, the Nigerian superstar who has won every national competition in the company in the last three-four years, is now rated 132 in the world even though he did not win the ITF competition which was hosted by Nigeria in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital.

The rankings show that the man fondly called Osama dropped a place from the 131 spot on the world rankings released on 25 November, having accrued 111 points from three tournaments played.

Wasiu Yusuf who won the Abuja Wheelchair ITF competition is also one of the top ten players on the African continent, as he also dropped a place and is now ranked 142 in the world and seventh in Africa.

Both players are two of the best players on the African continent and are only bested by South African and Moroccan players, who have played double the number of tournaments the Nigerian players have participated in for the period under review.

There are chances that the Nigerian players will be participating in the fast approaching Nairobi Open in Kenya, to boost their ranking points ahead of the next tennis season.

Nigeria Tennis Live will keep tabs with the players and their performances in the coming weeks as the end of the year approaches.
