Unless something unusual happens and she gets her visa, Nigeria’s Oyinlomo Quadre will not be participating at the Orange Bowl tournament in the United States of America, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.

Reports reaching our correspondent have it that Quadre was selected among the top juniors in the world to play the competition following her incredible performance all year and her ranking among the top junior stars in Africa.

As at 4 November when the last rankings were released by the ITF, the youngster was ranked 222 in the world, which makes her the fifth-placed African on the world ratings, having played much lesser games than those in the top five.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the Nigerian tennis sensation was billed to play in the U-18 category of the Eddie Herr and Orange Bowl tournaments, a development which would have brought the youngster to limelight on the world stage.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that the Nigerian tennis sensation was billed to play in the U-18 category of the Eddieheir and Orange Bowl tournaments, a development which would have brought the youngster to limelight on the world stage.

In a brief chat with our correspondent over the rejection of the youngster’s application for a visa, Coach Abel Ubiebi, noted that it is a really sad development for Nigeria’s tennis, as this would have further put Nigeria’s name on the world map in the world of tennis.

He said: “Had she played, she would have been able to really bring herself to the world lime light and a bigger opportunity for big sponsorship brands to locate her.

“Playing the tournament would have also added to her tennis CV and also facilitate her playing possibly any of the junior grand slam competitions.

“I am sure, she would have made a bigger impact with the performance she put up at the 2nd week of the Lagos Open.”

The Eddieheir competition is billed to hold from 2-8 December while the Orange Bowl starts the next week, from 9-15 December.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that there are chances of the youngster still making it down to the United States for the competition if she can get the visa before the deadline to signify her participation in the competition.

As at the time of filing this report, the youngster was said to have returned to her base in Morocco as efforts to get the visa proved futile.
