The organizers of the ongoing Lagos Open Tennis International Championship are partnering with a US-based tennis academy to train youngsters during the second leg of the competition.

Nigeria Tennis Live gathered that Arizona based Genesis Academy led by legendary Nigerian tennis player, Jonathan Igbinovia, will be taking youngsters through the rudiments of tennis for the four-day event which runs from Thursday, 17 October to Sunday, 20 October inside the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos.

Igbinovia, who arrived the country a few days ago, will be partnering with other top Nigerian junior tennis coaches to carry out the training for the event.

The training which is in its 5th edition will feature junior players from ages 10, 12 & 14.

Sunday Igbinovia, one of the coaches billed to handle the training sessions, revealed that about 70 players have already registered to participate in the training which is open.

He told Nigeria Tennis Live that they would be expecting about 80 players, maximum, for the training programme which kicks off by 4pm every day.

Other coaches who will be part of the training include Abel Ubiebi, Uzor Okiti, Romanus Nwazo, Peter Osagie and Nathaniel Makoko.
