Sylvester Emmanuel is one of the Nigerian players who got a Wild Card to play at the second leg of the ongoing Lagos Open International Tennis Championships in Lagos, and he faces a stern test on Monday morning to advance beyond the first round, Nigerian Tennis Live can authoritatively report.

The draws released on Sunday evening revealed that he will play against the tournament’s number seven seed, Niki Poliyanda from India, inside the centre court in one of the early matches on Monday, 8 October.

Thomas Otu, Ireland-based Adebola Obasoto and British-born Andu Muktar are also among the Nigerian players with wild cards for the second leg of the competition in Lagos.

Oyinlomo Quadre will be in action as one of the youngest players at the ongoing ITF Pro Circuit when she takes on Anna from Cech Republic.

In similar fashion, Emmanuel Idoko, Emmanuel Paul, Joseph Imeh Ubon, Henry Atseye and Clifford Enosoregbe all qualified for the main draw of the men’s Singles event at the tournament.

In the Women’s event, budding youngster, Oyinlomo Quadre, Nigerian-born US player, Adesua Osabuohien, Aanu Aiyegbusi and Kajuru Ange Oby (born by a Japanese woman to the Nigerian) also got the wild card while Ronke Akingbade emerged as the only Nigerian from the qualifying series.

Oyinlomo, who advanced to the second round of the first leg, will now take on Anna Siskova from Cech Republic, to stand a chance of repeating her impressive feat from the first leg in the F5 of the ITF Circuit.

Nigerian Tennis Live will keep monitoring the activities of the 13 players in the Main Draw as the tournament gets into the business side.
