The ongoing Vemp Open Tennis Championship is getting to the business end, where the top players are getting a run for their money.

Nigerian Tennis Live checks revealed that Nigeria’s number one male player, Joseph Imeh, will come up against former champion, Clifford Enosoregbe – both of whom have been in blistering form throughout the competition – in the quarterfinal phase of the competition.

Enosoregbe is ready to take on any player at te ongoing Vemp Open Tennis Championship.

Enosoregbe who was responsible for the defeat of legendary Shehu Lawal, also dismissed Michael Amos in similar fashion, winning 6-1, 6-0 to prepare for his all-important match against Imeh, who also thrashed Michael Chima with the same scoreline.

The pair will square up on Thursday morning, in arguably the biggest match of the day which also promises to thrill tennis lovers who will storm the tennis section of the National Stadium, Abuja, venue of the tournament.

Other matches will see ageless Abdulmumin Babalola take on Uche Oparaoji while Henry Atseye will try to subdue giant killer Sunday Emmanuel; Sylvester Emmanuel will also have to deal with the consistency of Emmanuel Idoko, who has been tremendous all week.

In the female cadre, Sarah Adegoke seems to be holding on to her number one status as she is in pole position to claim the inaugural title. She will take up another difficult player in Anu Aiyegbusi.

Blessing Samuel, another interesting female player, will slug it out with former national champion just as Christie Agugbom tackles Bunmi Are while Lovetth Donatus has a date with Patience Onebamhoin to seek a semi-final berth in the championship.

Nigerian Tennis Live will keep tabs with the competition and update our readers with the latest information from the championship.
