Rose Onoja Abu is arguably one of the surprise packages of the 40th edition of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Tennis Open Championship, Nigerian Tennis Live can authoritatively report.

The unseeded player masterminded a defeat of the number six seed to ease into the quarterfinals of the women’s doubles at the tournament and has successfully booked her place (alongside partner Bukola Olowu) in the doubles final.

Nigerian Tennis Live gathered that Abuja-based Abu, who also officiates sometimes, has described her victory at this stage of her career as something God did for her because she is nearing her retirement age in the sport.

According to the fixtures, Abu and Olowu will now take on the pair of Christie Agugbom and Blessing Samuel, both of whom have colonized the doubles of national tournaments in recent times, to determine who carries the day in Abuja.

Nigerian Tennis Live will follow up on the tournament and report the winners of the finals as the competition reaches an enthralling finale on Saturday, 30 June, 2018.
