Tennis followers and lovers in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital, will be treated to some world class tennis actions as Sylvester Emmanuel takes on Joseph Imeh at the ongoing Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Tennis Open Championship in a match that has been dubbed the final before the final.

Imeh, Nigeria’s number one male tennis player, is arguably Nigeria’s best player at the moment, and will fancy his chances against Sylvester with whom he played some of Nigeria’s best matches at the recently concluded Davis Cup tournament in Kenya.

Nigeria’s progress out of pool A was in no small way due to the brilliance of both players; as individuals and as team members. But they will now have to slug it out against each other to determine who progresses to the semis of the 40th CBN Open.

These top Nigerian players will treat tennis lovers to some top class tennis actions at the CBN Open Championship on Thursday.

Sylvester popularly called Major by close friends, had experienced some low times in his tennis career after going under the knife ahead of the 2017 Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Open. He has however, picked up and his form at the Davis Cup was evident that he cannot be brushed aside.

Imeh on the other hand, has appeared unassailable at the CBN Open this year and having failed to win a single national tournament in 2017 despite playing in all major finals, he would fight to the end to ensure a win in the match.

With the statistics and other history between both players, spectators at the tennis section of the National Stadium in Abuja will be treated to one of the best tennis encounters in recent years.

In other matches, Uche Oparoaji will play against Albert Bikom while Abdulmumin Babalola will tackle Sunday Emmanuel, another promising player with great potentials. Enosoregbe’s match against Paul Emmanuel will complete the quarter final pairings for the day.

Nigerian Tennis Live will ensure that our readers get a feel of the action as it hots up inside the stadium on Thursday morning.
