Nigerian players’ hopes of getting more prize money at the ongoing Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have been dashed as the organizers have indicated that the amount stands as it is for the 40th edition of the annual tournament.
The players had been hoping that there would be a rise in the prize money with the commencement of the 40th year of the competition and were waiting for the press conference to be sure.

Nigerian Tennis Live feelers from Abuja have it that the tournament remains the way it is in terms of prize money, as well as the draws for the tournament.
The organizers informed the press that draws will be 128 for male while the female players will have a draw of 64.
This information will not totally come as a good one for Nigerian players but they will be hoping for better welfare as the competition goes on.
As at the time of filing this report, other details had yet to be got from the federal capital. The tournament kicks off (preliminary) on Thursday, 21 June, 2018 and climax on Saturday, 30 June.
