The hard work and consistency of the Nigerian players on the circuit seem to be paying off after some impressive displays by Joseph Imeh and Christian Paul saw them defeat some hard playing Americans to advance to the semi finals of the Doubles event at the ongoing Futures in Zimbabwe.
Nigerian Tennis Live had reported these players’ exploits in Uganda (clay tournament) before their movement to Zimbabwe (hard court) for another week of ITF Futures and they are making good use of their time in the country.
The Nigerian players are making us proud in Zimbabwe.
Even though their individual efforts could not take them past their more experienced opponents, the Nigerians have teamed up to form a strong opposition, and proved just how much their partnership could work when they defeated Jordan Parker and Emmett Ward in two straight sets of 7-6 (5), 6-2 to berth in the quarter final stage of the team event.
With this result, the Nigerian players are set to square up against Anirudh Chandrasekar and Vignesh Peranamallur, the number three seeds from India in what is expected to be a really tough match for the Nigerian stars.
Nigerian Tennis Live will monitor this encounter between both countries and report the players’ progress or otherwise as preparations get underway for the fast approaching Davis Cup Tennis Championship in Kenya.
