America-based young Nigerian tennis prodigy, Marylove Edwards, will be flying the country’s flag high in the United States when she participates in the Orange Bowl tournament from Wednesday, 13 December, 2017.

The Nigerian player who has won all available tournaments in her age category and above in the country, is presently at the Nick Bolleteri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida, on a four-year sponsorship deal with the Temple Management Company (TMC).

According to Koye Sowemimo, the Head of Sports at TMC, the 2017 Senior CBN Open finalist has been preparing really hard for the championship and proved herself by reaching the semis of the Eddie Herr tournament in America.

Marylove is looking focused ahead of the Orange Bowl tournament in Miami, USA.

Edwards, who was also recently adjudged the most outstanding junior female player of the recently concluded NCC Tennis League, is said to be really prepared for this championship following different training sessions.

Speaking to Nigerian Tennis Live on her readiness for the tournament, Sowemimo said: “She is very much ready. Had a great few weeks of training after getting to the semis of the Eddie Herr tournament and will be playing in the U12 age group.

“The tournament is for the best players around the world and Marylove will be flying Nigeria’s flag high when she starts her participation in the tournament in Miami this afternoon.”

He further stated that Edwards, who recently got a gift from Yonex, the company which sponsored her new rackets, is confident of doing well and making Nigeria proud during the championship.

“Marylove is really confident going into this tournament, knowing that she will be competing against the very best around the world during the competition.

“She knows what is at stake and is really gearing up for her first match when she gets on the court this afternoon,” Sowemimo added.
