Nigerian tennis players will have another opportunity to boost their national rankings after the ongoing Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship in Kano, our sources have revealed.

Nigerian Tennis Live authoritatively gathered that the maiden edition of the national tennis tournament will immediately attract national ranking points, which will be a massive boost for the Nigerian players who will want to move further up the ratings.

Sylvester Emmanuel during a training session in his Barcelona, Spain base. He is presently on the sponsorship of Rainoil.

Mr. Saidu Musa, the president of the Nigeria Umpires Association, in a brief chat with our correspondent, disclosed that as a national tournament, the Rainoil Championship will attract national ranking points as well.

He said: “Of course, the tournament is a national championship and it will attract ranking points just like others.”

The bronze badge highly rated ITF referee, however, gave a caveat to the ranking points if the tournament does not continue in 2018.

“But if they don’t hold the tournament next year, all the points will be wiped off, that’s the rule,” he added.

Barring any last minute change, the Rainoil Tennis Open Tournament is billed to hold at the Lagos Country Club in Ikeja from 8 – 17 December, 2017.

Nigerian Tennis Live will keep monitoring events preceding the tournament and update our followers on the latest developments as they unfold.
