Nigeria’s Sarah Adegoke, Oyinlomo Storm Senegal For Women’s ITF Futures

In their bid to consolidate on the two-week long ITF Futures they played in Nigerian recently, the trio of Nigeria’s Sarah Adegoke, Oyinlomo Quadri and Aminat Quadri have landed in Senegal for the Women ITF pro-circuit.

Nigerian Tennis Live checks on the ITF website showed the Nigerian players entered the tournament in the preliminary stage which will kick off on Saturday, 11 November inside the Olympique Club de Dakar.

Oyinlomo will strive to go one better than she did at the Governor’s Cup where she played in the Main Draws through a wild card.

The $25,000 tournament already has Conny Perrin, winner of the Governor’s Cup second leg in Lagos barely three weeks ago, in pole position as the competition’s number one seed having stormed to 194 on the world ranking.

Earlier reports had it that the Senegalese Tennis Association promised to give the Nigerian players wild cards to play, but this did not happen. However, the players proceeded to the West African country to participate from the preliminary stage.

Neither Adegoke nor Oyinlomo made it past the first round of the Governor’s Cup Championship in Lagos (where they got Wild Cards) as they met stiff competitions, however, the players (especially Oyinlomo), may have been buoyed by their performance and will want to consolidate on it.

Nigerian Tennis Live sources revealed that the trio left the country on Wednesday night while another female player, Donatus Lovett will arrive the country on Thursday with her personal Coach, Abe Babatunde, even though her name was not on the ITF website.

The Nigerian contingent’s presence will also be complimented by the presence of Bronze Badge ITF Umpire, Musa Saidu, who will also be officiating at the ITF Futures.

Nigerian Tennis Live will monitor the players’ progress and publish the report as soon as the players commence the qualifying series.
