Alongside Sylvester Emmanuel, Nigeria’s most outstanding player at the recently concluded Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship, Joseph Imeh, is being tipped to rub shoulders with the top 100 players in the world.

This was the honest opinion of Coach Benson Ishicheli, one of Nigeria’s most rated coaches, during a chat with Nigerian Tennis Live.

Pere Riba, one of the Spanish coaches who came to Nigeria to train the local trainers, had during an interaction with our correspondent, given a detailed explanation on the progress of Sylvester, who has been training with them in Barcelona for over one year, stating categorically that the Nigerian number one star has the potentials of a top 100 player.

Imeh is fast becoming Nigeria’s best player in the year 2018.

And during a brief discussion with Nigeria’s number one tennis news source, Coach Ishicheli gave a verdict on Imeh, having watched the player grow through the ranks and represent the country at the Davis Cup tournament in Egypt in 2017.

He agreed that Sylvester has shown he has the potentials already, and added sincerely, that: “If Imeh gets the opportunity that others have, he is at his peak now, he also has he potentials to do really well.”

The onus is now on stakeholders and tennis enthusiasts in Nigeria to expedite their plans for the players in order to ensure that no stone is left unturned in the transformation and development of the players.

Corporate bodies also have a huge role to play in ensuring that these players have personal coaches who can aid their consistent growth in the sport.
