Christopher Bulus, the Nigerian youngster who won the boys Singles at the third leg of the Junior ITF Circuit in Togo, is now ranked 447 in the world.

Nigerian Tennis Live checks revealed that the ACES tennis player who got a Wild Card to compete at this year’s Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship, moved 174 places from his 621 spot at the end of the third leg of the three-week long tournament to now stay strong against the top 400 stars.

ECSTASY… Bulus and Coach Abel Ubiebi in an ecstatic mood after his triumph at the recent ITF Circuit in Togo.

The 16-year-old Nigerian teenager who achieved this feat by playing just 10 ITF tournaments this period, is the player with the least number of championships under his belt among the top African juniors with the closest being 12 tournaments.

Bulus, who is now the 20th best player on the continent, was also the biggest mover on the list of the top 20 and stands a chance of being among the top 10 if he participates in more junior ITF circuits in the next few weeks.

A screenshot showing the top 20 players on the African continent with Nigeria’s Bulus (painted yellow) staying at number 20.

Although he is still a teenager, the youngster will be expected to give his opponents a run for their money with the experience he has gathered in the past few years and having to compete against some of the best juniors in the world.

Meanwhile, action will kick off this weekend at the ITF pro-circuit in Lagos with the preliminary matches starting on Saturday, 7 October while the main draw games will serve off on Monday, 9 October inside the Lagos Lawn Tennis Court, Onikan.
