Christopher Bulus, the Nigerian youngster turning heads at the ongoing Junior ITF Circuit in Lome, the Togolese capital, has made it to the second round of the tournament without any real stress.

The runner-up at the second leg of the ITF-rated championship was alongside Michael Ayoola, the only lucky Nigerian boys who featured on Monday as other Nigerian male players could not withstand the firepower of their more experienced counterparts, even though they put in their best.

Bulus, who pulled out of the last Commonwealth Games at the last minute due to commitments with his education, easily dismissed Kokou Christian Agbo from Togo in a 6-1, 6-1 game, will now face India’s Shreejit Sen in the second round while Ayoola who played the final set against Ahmed Mouhan in a 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 game, will now battle Sewavi Menasah in the second round.

Christopher Bulus is keeping up with his pre-tournament ratings at the ongoing Junior ITF Circuit in Togo.

In other matches to be decided on Tuesday, Oyinlomo Barakat (number five seed) who got a bye in the first round, will take on Chakira Dermane while Mariam Alli Balogun will have her hands full when she plays against Alexandra Anttila, the number two seed  from Finland.

Nigeria is also still in the doubles as Balogun will partner Venus to play against Serena Adjowa Sika and Quadri; Omolayo Bamidele is also pairing Chelsea Agaouga to spar against Meghna Mallath and Manya Viswanath.

For the boys, Bulus is partnering with number one seed Darrshan Suresh to play against Jimoh Rasaki (from Nigeria) and Myko Yohann Himad Kouame.

Nigerian Tennis Live will monitor their performances and present them to our followers as the tournament progresses.
