The Nigerian team to the ongoing Davis Cup in Egypt have vowed to crush Zimbabwe in their second match of the round robin group fixtures holding today.

In a chat with Naija Tennis Special from Egypt, the team captain, Benson Ishicheli confirmed that although the team is in a group of death, all hands are on deck to ensure Nigeria crushes them in today’s encounter.

Sylvester Emmanuel lost his Singles match to the Egyptian. He will try to make up for it later today.

“Presently, we at a disadvantage after losing the first set of matches to Egypt. But the players are already in high spirits ahead of the encounter against Zimbabwe.

“We know Zimbabwe could be a hard nut to crack, but we also know that we are up to the task… and that was why we came here in the first place.

“The players are more ready than you can think or imagine, and I know that all things being equal, we shall make the nation proud at the end of our encounter with the East Africans today. Just keep praying for us and keep believing in us,” Coach Benson stated.

Nigeria’s Sylvester Emmanuel and Imeh Joseph lost to their Egyptian counterparts in the Singles matches played on Monday while Abdulmumuni Babalola who partnered Clifford Enosoregbe gave up the doubles too after putting up such a serious fight.

The Nigerian players will hope to consolidate on their performance in the first leg and cause serious trouble for their Zimbabwean opponents.

Naija Tennis Special will bring you updates from today’s matches as soon as they have been decided.
