After yesterday’s exit of many Nigerian players at the hands of their opponents, the remaining Nigerian stars in the tournament may also be saying a goodbye to the competition in the second round.

Henry Atseye stood no chance against Hemery Calvin who beat him 6-0, 6-3 while the same fate befell Christopher Edward in his match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, losing 2-6, 4-6.

Clifford Enosoregbe will hope to get a befitting birthday gift today.

Christian Paul who played against another French star, Mina Gianni, was defeated in two straight sets of 6-2, 6-4 just as youngster Osewa Michael, who entered the tournament as a wild card entrant, fought hard but lost 0-6, 5-7 to Yakpa, Magloire from Benin Republic.

Only the doubles pair of Destiny Ford Da-Silva and Thomas Otu won a match involving Nigerians on the day, as they defeated the pair of Filenkox Alexei from Russia and Mukund Sasi Kumar from India 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.

In today’s matches, Wild Card entrant, Clifford Enosoregbe will trade tackles with Tunisia’s Echargui Moez, while the biggest test of the day would be Sylvester Emmanuel’s match against number one seed Lopez-Perez Enrique from Spain.

Thomas Otu, another wild card entrant, will seek to get the scalp of Smola, Maciej, the number eight seed from Poland, just as Mohammed Mohammed will hope to get something out of his game against Sasi Kumar, the Indian number four seed.

Joseph Imeh will also have his hands full when he squares against Boy Westerhof from Netherlands in another enticing encounter.
