Michael Moses may have cemented his place as the next big thing to happen to Nigerian tennis, Naija Tennis Special has discovered.
Last year, the Nigerian youngster burst into the big stage with his unbelievable triumph at the Abridged Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship, where he defeated one of the pre-tournament favourites, Duncan Mugabe- the number one male tennis player in Uganda till date.
While most of his colleagues were still slugging it out at the inaugural edition of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA Open late last year, he left at the Quarterfinal stage alongside one other colleague for an ITF Futures in Togo, another west african country.

And since the turn of the year, he has spent no fewer than 11 weeks on tour of ITF Circuits within Africa.
He spent nine weeks in Egypt at the beginning of the year and returned to play the two legs of the ongoing Tombim Abuja ITF Open in Nigeria, where he has arguably been Nigeria’s best player.
Moses picked his first ATP points in Abuja, playing up to the quarterfinal stage of the $15, 000+H competition in the first leg and was also the only Nigerian to play up to the semis in the doubles of the second leg of the same competition.
With his wealth of experience in Egypt- despite not picking a point in the North African region- the Abuja-based tennis star is fast building a great reputation for himself.

“I want to build on what I gained in terms of exposure while we were in Egypt and I believe that I am getting better.
“My level of confidence has increased tremendously and I believe that if I can continue this way, it will not be too long before I play among the top 500 players in the world,” Moses told our correspondent in Abuja.
And he has also stated that he would play about four-six other Futures within Africa before returning to compete at the Lagos Governor’s Cup Championship later this year.
With all of these things in place, Moses’ sponsor, Mr. Edmund Ajoge, may have struck gold with the new player giving him mileage for the huge amount of money he spends on his many trips within and outside the country.
